Suggestions for a Successful Day:

The following suggestions were made by participating individuals and churches. Please feel free to let us know what you are doing so we can let others know as well.

Here are some suggestions to help make the Day of Evangelism a success for all involved:

1. Have a special training day. This is always good for experienced and inexperienced soul winners. Sitting through sessions on how to win souls has always been helpful for me even though I have been involved in soul winning for many years.

2. Have a special day of prayer and preparation. Pray, pray, pray. This could be combined with the training day or not. Not praying for success in evangelism will guarantee failure. However, I believe the Lord will reward those that seek His face and help during this day.

3. Have a special soul winning “rally”. Get people fired up about this day. Invite a special preacher in that has had experience in winning souls and have him preach on soul winning. This is always encouraging and helpful. I will caution you that this is not a pep rally or a way to get people motivated in a fleshly way. This should be a way to get people excited and encouraged about what should and can be done.

4. Set a goal for the amount of people to come out. Maybe you would like to have your whole church out on that day, or maybe a fraction that is above what you normally have. One church involved is shooting for 1/3 of their congregation of 1,000 to be involved.

5. Target a certain area and then pray over that area. Don’t be haphazard about what you are trying to do. Go to a certain area and attempt to saturate that area with the gospel.

6. Encourage soul winners to win souls. If you have a group of people in your church that are experienced soul winners, instruct them to not just go out and scatter some seed around. Encourage them to win souls. Go out with the idea in mind that they are attempting to come back with some sheaves that day.

7. Encourage inexperienced soul winners to sow some seed and walk through open doors as God leads. Many people don’t go soul winning because they don’t know how. Many don’t understand what to do and as a result don’t do anything.

8. Pair up experienced soul winners with inexperienced soul winners. If I send out two experienced soul winners together they will most likely have success up to a point. However, if I pair two experienced soul winners up with two inexperienced soul winners, I will get twice as much done with better quality results. I am also teaching the inexperienced soul winners and giving them hands on training.

9. Organize to go in the morning and at night. Some people won’t be able to go in the morning, but they can go at night. So, possibly have one in both parts of the day.

10. Keep accurate results. These could be future members of your church and you would not want to lose them.

11. Split your church leaders up into groups and encourage them to recruit people for soul winning. Encourage Sunday School teachers to take another member of the class, or lead their class to get out the word.

12. Put up posters around the church advertising the day. You will find one attached here that can be easily printed off and posted around the church.

13. Have a sign-up sheet. People will keep their word and show up if they have put their name on a sheet. This can also help with the planning process.

14. Make the next day at church a big evangelistic outreach. Some churches are canvassing a surrounding area with the hopes of having many unsaved from the area on Sunday.

15. Have a light snack or continental breakfast for those attending.
